Well actually I did use some photo texture for the background and a bit in the foreground, otherwise this is custom brushes.

Thanks. And how does it happen - you put a texture, and paint over it, merging into the painting?
Or just use different overlays?

Well it depends, most of the time I paint over it to merge it into the painting after playing with the layer blend modes to see which one works best, but if I feel like it's okay without painting on top of it I let it that way, you can see it here in the background, the texture on the mountains is actually just a photo, I painted on top of it but just in some areas to match the composition better :)
